Topological games in domain theory
We prove that a metric space may be realized as the set of maximal elements in a continuous dcpo if and only if it is completely metrizable by showing more generally that the space of maximal elements in a domain is always complete in a sense first introduced by Choquet.
متن کاملTopological domain theory
This thesis presents Topological Domain Theory as a powerful and flexible framework for denotational semantics. Topological Domain Theory models a wide range of type constructions and can interpret many computational features. Furthermore, it has close connections to established frameworks for denotational semantics, as well as to well-studied mathematical theories, such as topology and computa...
متن کاملComputational Effects in Topological Domain Theory
This paper contributes towards establishing the category QCB, of topological quotients of countably based spaces, and its subcategory TP, of topological predomains, as a flexible framework for denotational semantics of programming languages. In particular, we show that both categories have free algebras for arbitrary countable parametrised equational theories, and are thus, following ideas of P...
متن کاملTwo Probabilistic Powerdomains in Topological Domain Theory
We present two probabilistic powerdomain constructions in topological domain theory. The first is given by a free ”convex space” construction, fitting into the theory of modelling computational effects via free algebras for equational theories, as proposed by Plotkin and Power. The second is given by an observationally induced approach, following Schröder and Simpson. We show the two constructi...
متن کاملTheory of topological edges and domain walls.
We investigate domain walls between topologically ordered phases in two spatial dimensions. We present a method which allows for the determination of the superselection sectors of excitations of such walls and which leads to a unified description of the kinematics of a wall and the two phases to either side of it. This incorporates a description of scattering processes at domain walls which can...
